The Calgary Flames may never go the scorched Earth route to rebuild. Ownership just doesn't have the appetite or patience for it. But the Vancouver Canucks sure look like they're in that mindset with big names available on the NHL trade market. Meanwhile, the Edmonton Oilers trying to add Jakob Chychrun makes a lot of sense. But is the price too high?

Connor Bedard showed his stuff at the World Juniors and Canada is golden again.

Calgary Flames

The Flames got back in the win column on Friday with a 4-1 victory over the New York Islanders. It was a huge way to kickstart a five-game road trip that takes them through the Central Division.

AHL prospects Jakob Pelletier and Walker Duehr were called up on Saturday with winger Brett Ritchie going on IR. The Flames are giving their prospects some NHL grooming lately.

In case you missed it, Nazem Kadri was named the Flames rep for the all-star game, and Dillon Dube has been declared the franchise's "most improved" player by head coach Darryl Sutter.

NHL News, NHL Trade Rumours, and National Hockey Now

Vancouver: They're going to blow it up. And why not if you have a shot at local hero Connor Bedard? Seemingly, everyone on the Vancouver Canucks is for sale on the NHL Trade Market, including Bo Horvat and JT Miller.

Edmonton: Could the Edmonton Oilers be a fit for Arizona Coyotes defenceman Jakob Chychrun on the NHL trade market? Calgary Flames fans would hate this.

World Juniors: As the 2023 World Juniors wrap up, it looks like consensus no. 1 overall pick Connor Bedard has no true limits.

Vegas: Logan Thompson has been named to the 2023 NHL All-Star game and wants fellow Vegas Golden Knights Phil Kessel and Paul Cotter to join him.

Colorado: Frustration is setting in with the defending Stanley Cup champs. Another brutal loss and the lack of depth is becoming obvious. What’s going on with the Colorado Avalanche?

Washington: Anthony Mantha was benched in the third period of the Washington Capitals game against the Nashville Predators.

Montreal: Montreal Canadiens top prospect Owen Beck has been traded, just not at the NHL level.

San Jose: The San Jose Sharks have claimed forward Mikey Eyssimont off waivers from the Winnipeg Jets.

Pittsburgh: This is how much the Pens love Kris Letang. The Pittsburgh Penguins will wear special helmet stickers to honour the life of Letang's father, Claude Fouquet.

Philly: The Philadelphia Flyers will remember the life of longtime owner Ed Snider against the Toronto Maple Leafs Sunday.

Long Island: A surprise scratch against the Calgary Flames on Friday, Mat Barzal is out with a lower-body injury for the New York Islanders.
